Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement
Journal of VLSI Circuits and Systems
The Journal of VLSI Circuits and Systems is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. This statement is based on the COPE Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and outlines the responsibilities of editors, reviewers, authors, and the publisher. All parties involved in the publication process must adhere to the ethical principles stated below.
1.Responsibilities of Authors
1.1 Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must submit original manuscripts that have not been published previously and are not under consideration elsewhere. Any form of plagiarism—including direct copying, mosaic plagiarism, improper paraphrasing, duplication of text, or reuse of previously published data without citation—is strictly prohibited. All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection tools (iThenticate, CrossCheck, Copyscape).
1.2 Authorship and Contribution
Only individuals who have made significant contributions to the research should be listed as authors. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission.
1.3 Data Integrity and Research Accuracy
Authors must ensure that all data presented in the manuscript are accurate, authentic, and reproducible. Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data or images is considered research misconduct.
1.4 Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence the submitted work.
1.5 Ethical Compliance
For studies involving humans, animals, or sensitive data, authors must provide proof of ethical approval and informed consent, when applicable.
1.6 Correction of Errors
If authors discover errors or inaccuracies in their published work, they must notify the editor immediately so that corrections or retractions can be issued.
2. Responsibilities of Reviewers
2.1 Confidentiality
Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared or discussed with others.
2.2 Objectivity and Constructive Feedback
Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts objectively, provide constructive comments, and avoid personal criticism of authors.
2.3 Acknowledgment of Relevant Work
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.
2.4 Conflicts of Interest
Reviewers must decline to review manuscripts in which they have financial, professional, or personal conflicts of interest.
2.5 Timeliness
Reviewers should complete their evaluations promptly. If unable to meet the deadline, they must inform the editor immediately.
3. Responsibilities of Editors
3.1 Editorial Authority
The Editor-in-Chief has full responsibility for final decisions regarding acceptance or rejection of manuscripts. Decisions are based solely on the manuscript’s academic merit, originality, relevance, and clarity.
3.2 Fairness and Impartiality
Editors evaluate submissions without discrimination based on authors’ gender, ethnicity, nationality, religion, or institutional affiliation.
3.3 Confidentiality
Editors must maintain the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and must not use unpublished materials for personal research.
3.4 Handling of Misconduct
Editors investigate allegations of plagiarism, data falsification, ethical violations, or authorship disputes following COPE flowcharts. Misconduct may lead to rejection, retraction, institutional notification, or author sanctions.
3.5 Conflicts of Interest
Editors must not handle manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest. Such manuscripts will be assigned to another qualified editor.
4.Publisher Responsibilities
The publisher ensures that:
Editorial decisions are independent and free from commercial influence.
Journal operations follow ethical and professional publishing standards.
Corrections, retractions, and withdrawals are handled transparently and promptly.
5. Misconduct and Malpractice Handling
5.1 Plagiarism
Detected plagiarism will result in rejection or retraction. Authors may be blacklisted for future submissions.
5.2 Data Manipulation or Fabrication
Any attempt to falsify, manipulate, or fabricate data will result in manuscript rejection or withdrawal.
5.3 Duplicate or Redundant Publication
Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals or republishing previously published work without acknowledgment is prohibited.
5.4 Authorship Misconduct
False authorship claims or exclusion of legitimate contributors are treated seriously.
6. Retraction and Correction Policy
The journal follows COPE guidelines for issuing:
Corrections (for minor errors)
Retractions (for major ethical breaches or invalid findings)
Expressions of Concern (when investigations are ongoing)
All retraction notices will remain linked to the original article.
7. COPE Compliance
This journal adheres to the ethical guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
